Absence

Well, they say absence makes the heart grow finder, but I've found the longer I don't blog, the less I have to say! On the bright side, I hope that in the next week or so I'll be in a position to add some postcards, and blank greetings cards to my website, keep an eye out for them, and he inorductory offer too!

Art in Irton

I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who made Sunday's Art in Irton exhibition possible, once again it was a great day, with a diverse group of photographers, and some really yummy cake! We raised £390 for the village hall.

I would also like to say a special thank you to everyone who stopped by my section of the hall on Sunday, whether you just enjoyed my photography, or whether you bought one of my bookmarks, cards, or prints.

Keep your eye on my website, as I hope to have some greetings cards for sale very shortly!

Just a quick post to say my website has now been updated, the number of photos has almost doubled & I'm really happy with how it's looking.

I've been pretty busy of late, with one thing and another; but that's not stopped me from taking photos (not even the weather can do that, as you'll soon see); I've also entered an upcoming exhibition, which is being run by the Art in Irton group, and is on September 5^th in Santon Bridge village hall (I'll add more details and directions to my website for those who are interested).

In the near future I'll be making some changes to my website. I feel that some of the photos don't represent the quality of work I am now achieving; so I'll behaving a "clearout" of my galleries, with a view to updating them with some newer work; though some older pieces may remain. I'm also toying with the idea of adding a gallery of work which would not be for sale, but would instead show some of my photography which I do for personal reasons, or have been asked to do by others, a small portfolio, if you will.

In the meantime, my next big plan is to have some postcards and/or greetings cards for sale at the exhibition, I will also make these available for sale on my website alongside the prints and canvases.

Until then, I've set up a Facebook fan page, which can be accessed here, and I plan to use it to gain ideas and opinions, and perhaps even to notify people who "like" it of special offers.

Festival Photos

Just a quick note to say I've uploaded the first batch of photos from the Whitehaven Festival, fireworks from the Saturday night; within the next few days I should have some photos of the Red Arrows, and some of the other arial displays.

Welcome to my first blog entry! I intend to update this fairly regularly to keep you all up to date with what I’m doing.

Currently I have around 600 photos from last weekend which I need to sort through and edit – it was the Whitehaven Festival weekend, a yearly three-day event comprising music, food, tall ships, air displays, fireworks, as well as local, national, & international foods & crafts.
This coming weekend there’s the vintage rally at Distington, and I fully expect to take another hundred or so photos (weather permitting!), which will add to the backlog.
These photos are likely only to be posted to my Facebook group, deviantART, and my Flickr photostream; however I still have plenty of photos to add to my website.

Earlier in the week, I joined a new social networking site - Geavity. Its aim is to connect people based on the camera equipment they use. I’ve made a start on my own profile, and intend to improve it over the coming weekend. It would seem this site has come at a good time for me; I’m starting to look around for a new lens, probably a telephoto, as it’s what I feel I’m currently missing, and I’m hoping that using Geavity alongside a few other resources I’ll be able to find the best lens for my needs.
